Abstract

Black Box Days took place in Pisa, on 19-20 October 2019: two challenging, full-immersion days, a successful event, highly motivating for all Ikebana larp Team. Black Box larps share the same limited physical space with chamber larps, but offer an enhanced narrative thanks to sound, light and ambient settings; a greater effort leading to a stronger impact on players. We staged “Billy”, where players walk into William Stanley Milligan personalities’ shoes, possibly giving a second chance to Billy and his troubled life; a deeply emotional experience - for the staff, too. Then, “Killing Me Softly”, loosely based on Kreditbanken robbery in Stockholm in 1973, the event that the Stockholm syndrome is named on. The third larp was “Seconda Stesura” (Second Draft), a narrative and cooperative larp about all that the organization of a big street demonstration involves, and the tragic impact on its characters’ lives.
