Abstract

“The placid daily life of a small countryside fortress is shattered by a foreign army. A daring raid forces both oppressed and oppressors to live together side by side for days in the same castle.”

"La Fortezza dei Vinti” (“The Stronghold of the Vanquished”) represented a milestone in Terre Spezzate’s history. Indeed it also had an impact on the national scene: it was greatly talked about and in the end several other organizers put forward events in a style similar to this larp over the following months. Heavily inspired by nordic-style larp, and specifically by “Monitor Celestra”, The Stronghold has been an attempt to offer to Italian players a larp that was rules-light, focused on role-play and emotional engagement, heavy on special effects and props, and still familiar to larpers due to the fantasy-larp-in-a-castle setting.

Techniques: WYSIWYG, pre-written characters, safewords, introductory workshops, tastes and colours for potions, minimal combat system with foam weapons.
