Abstract

“Season of Mists” is a larp inspired by The Sandman and other works by Neil Gaiman. The Endless Dream has the Key to Hell, and divinities from multiple religions and traditions (i.e., the PCs) travel to his mansion to obtain it. The event therefore had a competitive part, in which characters fought and schemed to get the coveted Key, alongside a part focused on roleplaying, with the “Play to Lift” mechanic. Among the PCs there was also a group of “Dreamers,” which are mortal human beings who entered the world of dreams while sleeping. Character selection was very free, and we were thrilled to see many cases of crossgendering and players portraying gender-fluid characters. In order to respect Covid restrictions, we adapted the game rules to minimize physical interaction and melee combat.
