L'Apologia di Ippaso (Run 1)

“The Apology of Hippasus” is an educational board game designed for 20-30 children. It tells of a kind of trial by the other Pythagoreans against Hippasus of Metapontum for his discovery of irrational numbers, whose existence was denied by the Master. The pupils take on the role of Hippasus and the other disciples of Pythagoras, touching on many issues related to the encounter/clash between science, philosophy and religion. As in all edu-larp events, the event is followed by a structured debriefing on the issues it touches on. On 24 September 2020 we organised a laog version for adults of “The Apology of Hippasus” with only 4 playing characters, transposed to an alternative present in which Greek philosophy has just begun to develop. On 16 October, we organised a replica in which the audience connected on Facebook or Youtube could also participate, playing the minor Pythagoreans.
