Abstract

“Safarà” is not only an Arabic word meaning “to travel, to explore” but also the name of a mysterious and peculiar bazaar. This market is undoubtedly the best place to find unique objects, exotic foods, and rare spices, but taking a closer look it’s also a maze full of secrets and obscure mysteries; a real crossroad in between realities. Here, the despotic snake man imprisons naive travelers and forces them to wander in his bazaar forever, selling their souls for weird items. Safarà is an “Open-larp,” an event taking place inside a fair or a convention where the visitors become players and interact with the staff that guides them through the experience. The whole journey lasts for about 30 minutes, and all players are provided with a card to show their progression in the plot. The otherworldly aesthetic and the deeply layered plot captured all kinds of passerby, luring them into a parallel dimension made of mischievous characters and unsolved mysteries.
