Abstract

Drawing inspiration from an Italian “tradition” of horribly trash and cheesy comedy movies coming out for Christmas (all called Christmas-something, like “Christmas in Las Vegas”), “Christmas at the Funeral” was a larp experiment with nonsense and trash humor. A fictional, super rich TV-mogul is dead and all his wake of friends, acquaintances and lackeys are invited to a grand funeral dinner, to discover that the late magnate had devised a last joke, offering his inheritance to whom would best the others in ludicrous trials and competitions (including, but not limited to, karaoke, disco dancing and strip tease).

Thin characters were pre-written and assigned to players, sacking all of the worst Italian trash cultural stereotypes, like hooligans, mafia members, soccer players and starlettes. The result was a joyous mess and players went away with loads of funny memories, leaving behind a couple of sex toys and spoonfuls of powdered milk (which in the fiction represented cocaine).
