1631 is a high budget larp designed according to the principles described in the Southern Way/New Italian Larp manifesto. The setting is the same featured in 1630, and the players again take on the role of the inhabitants of a fictional village called “Poggio de’Corvi,” a place still untouched by a plague that ravaged the surrounding countryside. 1631 focuses on further exploring some narrative arcs seen in 1630 and introduces new elements that unbalance the social structure of the settlement. In order to make everyone actually feel and experience a life in a secluded village trying to be self-sufficient, a strict and immersive “what you see is what you get” approach was implemented. Players had to collect their own water, cook their own meals, sleep on straw mattresses, and spend time working, all while caring for their loved ones and the well-being of the community.
