Abstract

“For God & Country” is a Canon LARP historical larp event set during the 16th-century Dutch War of Independence, a time of profound division between faith, power, and national identity. The game places participants at the center of a community under pressure, torn apart by religious conflicts, political tensions, and the constant presence of war.

The pre-written and highly interconnected characters represent civilians, authorities, soldiers, and religious figures, each with personal beliefs, fears, and conflicting interests. Dynamics emerge through direct confrontation: difficult decisions, fragile alliances, betrayals, and acts of faith that can redefine the collective destiny of this oppressed community.

This event favors a realistic and human approach to historical larp, with a strong focus on social aspects, moral conflict, and individual responsibility. There is no predetermined narrative: the outcome of events depends solely on the choices of the players, who must decide what it truly means to serve God, their country or themselves.
