Abstract

“Landless” was not your usual edu-larp: it did not shy away from controversial or ideologically divisive themes. On the contrary, it was a dirty and gritty larp, where topics such as drugs, disadvantaged suburbs, and crime intertwined with the long march of refugees running away from Italy. Most of all, it was an adventurous and fun larp, which aimed at really engaging the students before trying to teach them anything. Landless was set in a dystopic Italy in 2024: due to the Covid-23 pandemic and the following economic crisis, the European Union has been disbanded. Students took the roles of three migrant groups who had lost everything and were trying to leave Italy and travel through Switzerland, now a military regime, to reach the New European Union, farther to the North.
