Abstract

PIRATE ACADEMY is a lighthearted pirate sailing larp, heavily inspired by the atmosphere and comedy of Monkey Island. An ill-assorted group of Melee Island residents decide, out of idealism or necessity, to pose as the crew of a famous pirate ship. In just four days, they must learn how to man the vessel and become a real pirate crew to take on a lucrative mission on behalf of the Governor. The tone of PIRATE ACADEMY is light and fun. The daring story also complements the real sailing lessons that take place during the larp, taught by the captain and crew of the host ship. PIRATE ACADEMY is in the finals for the UK larp Awards 2023 in two categories: Best International larp and larp Site of the Year.
