Abstract

A village at the time of witch trials, Willow Tree was a 3-day larp of 4 acts, an immersion into 1518 rural Europe, its patriarchy, faith, and mystery, with strong scenes, suitable for adults. The event provided for an accurate scenographic small village with the daily life of its inhabitants who carried out manual works. The narration did not follow a linear temporal line: the second act took place exactly 5 years earlier, a flashback of a particular day. The larp had its own soundtrack during the event, and we represented the oral ancient tradition using many background materials in the form of video with narrative voice. Also, the presentation trailer told the legend of the village foundation with a suggestive series of animated drawings illustrated by a narrator. The choice of the characters took place through functional teasers inspired by a medieval herbarium that indicated the themes of the characters. Only later did the player receive the full character sheet, written as a confession to God.
